Iris Cleveland establishes therapeutic alliances with unconditional positive regard, sensitivity and compassion for all clients served. She supports and assists those seeking to identify and/or clarify their vision of ‘next steps’ needed for moving toward their desired future. With extensive background experience in Intensive Family Intervention (IFI), Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), she has utilized these and a variety of other evidence-based interventions over the course of 20+ years, with a wide range of clients including children, adolescents and adults. She believes that we all share a degree of woundedness, which requires tenderness, healing time and focused therapeutic attention, all of which she provides with empathy and gentleness, always meeting the client wherever they are on their life’s journey.

Melody King is trained in traditional therapies as well as alternative/natural options. She has worked with adults, teens/children, and families for several years as an outpatient therapist. Melody advocates thinking “outside the box.” Her belief is that all factors including physical issues contribute to a client’s symptoms and should be considered as part of the treatment plan. Melody has a brain-based perspective in looking at mood, behavior, and personality issues. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting and Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Melody has found these methods effective to quickly resolve trauma and to provide help for many other issues when talk therapy is not enough. Clients are enabled to think of the disturbing event without experiencing extreme emotional upset.

Personal

Melody has been program coordinator of the Family Services Unit and the Diagnostic and Assessment Center at Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries. Melody served as a therapist in a residential psychiatric treatment facility working with severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed adolescents and their families.

Melody’s hobbies and leisure activities include spending time with her family, working jigsaw puzzles, working with the youth at her church, and taking trips to the beach. She has been married for more than 44 years, has two married daughters, and is a grandmother.

Gretchen Peacock has more than 30 years of experience in assisting individuals, families and couples at A New Start Counseling Center. Dr. Peacock has special expertise in helping people cope with loss including death, divorce, and physical or sexual trauma. She has worked extensively with churches and pastoral staffs in support of the unique issues of spiritual life. She has a long established relationship with Focus on the Family.

In addition to the Fayetteville location, Dr. Peacock maintains office hours in Newnan by appointment only.

She has two young adult children, and a number of dog and cat rescues that have been a part of her family. She loves taking photographs, and believes life is too full of color to see only black and white.
